Phillip Faber is one of Denmark’s foremost conductors,
composers and musical personalities

As well as working with the country’s leading professional ensembles Phillip Faber (b. 1984) is known throughout the country as former host of the daily Fællessang broadcasts and the current The Classical Music Quiz on Danish state television, in addition to his capacity as chief conductor of the Danish National Girls’ Choir.

With a background in theatre and music, Phillip studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen and at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm. Phillip’s work with the Danish National Girls’ Choir has had a marked effect on the ensemble’s sound and expression and on its standing in national life.

He has pioneered new collaborations with the ensemble and made a series of acclaimed recordings with it as well as broadcasting with the choir regularly on television.

Conductor

He is recurring guest conductor of the DANISH NATIONAL VOCAL ENSEMBLE (since 2015) - most recently he conducted the ensemble's meditation concerts in Roskilde and Copenhagen cathedrals - for AALBORG SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (since 2019) and for the ODENSE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (since 2022).

In 2022 Phillip led the Odense Symphony Orchestra, soloists and choirs from across South Denmark and Funen in a universally acclaimed performance of Mozart’s Requiem at the Odense Concert Hall.

In the recent years he has also conducted concerts and productions with the DANISH NATIONAL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022), DANISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (2014) and DANISH NATIONAL CHAMBER CHOIR (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019).

In the coming seasons Phillip Faber will be conducting concerts with the DANISH NATIONAL VOCAL ENSEMBLE, i.a.the ensemble's summer concerts and their traditional Christmas concerts, Fauré's Requiem with SOUTH DENMARK PHILHARMONIC, Haydn's The Creation with COPENHAGEN PHIL

alongside with midsummer concerts with AALBORG SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and christmas concerts with AARHUS SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.

HONORS

Phillip Faber has received ARNE HAMMELBOE’S MEMORIAL GRANT by the Danish Orchestra Association, the Danish Broadcasting

Phillip Faber blev i 2016 optaget i Kraks Blå Bog, har modtaget Arne Hammelboes mindelegat af Dansk

Corporation’s LANGUAGE AWARD, N.F.S. GRUNDTVIG PRIZE and the HONORARY PRIZE of the DANISH SOLOISTS’S SOCIETY in addition to several television awards for his efforts in promoting classical music on Danish television.

In 2022, he received the HONORARY PRIZE by the Danish broadcasting association KLF and was KNIGHTED by the Queen of Denmark.

Composer

Phillip Faber's works are published by Edition Wilhelm Hansen, a part of Wise Music Group.

His recent works include MENS FORÅRET KRYBER FREM for a cappella choir commissioned by the Danish National Vocal Ensemble, MIN LØGN I DIT ANSIGT for voice and piano set to texts by Olga Ravn, SHATTERED SONG for orchestra for the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and BRORSON-REQUIEM for Ribe Cathedral.

For film and stage he has written the children's opera FRIDOLIN for Den Rullende Opera, music for the Copenhagen Dox documentary THE SPACE BETWEEN US, as well as music for several theater productions at Teater Bloom, for Betty Nansen Teatret and TeaterHUSET.

He has also written the score and title music for the Danish TV series GRÆNSELAND.
